Southern Sailaway 16 Days

Day 1 - Livingstone to Luangwa Bridge, Zambia

Leaving early from Livingstone we travel North through rural Zambia to Luangwe Bridge whrer we spend the night. (L,D)

Day 2 - Lilongwe (Malawi)

We travel through Zambia into "the warm heart of Africa", Malawi. In the afternoon we explore the colourful and vibrand markets of Lilongwe, experiencing the bcultural blend of ancient and modern Africa. (B,L,D)

Days 3, 4, & 5 - Lake Malawi

Camping on the shores of Lake Malawi, our time is spent exploring this large fresh water lake. Snorkelling and scuba diving gives us an opportunity to discover the 500 species of colourful tropical fish. Meeting the locals will remind us why Malawi is the land of smiles and laughter. (B,D)

Day 6 - Blantyre.

After breakfast we head for Blantyre, named after the birthplace of David Livingstone. The town is the crossroads to Mozambique. (B,D)

Day 7 - Chimoio

Today we cross into Mozambique and camp at the small town of Chimoio. (B,L,D)

Day 8, 9, &10 - Vilanculos, Mocambique

We reach the coast and relax on the beach of this coastal town that we will be using as our base to explore the Bazaruto Islands. This area has exceptional beaches washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean with clean white beaches and many palm trees. (B,D)

Stage duration:3 days

Days 11 & 12 - Inhambane/ Tofo

Travelling South along the coast we pass Inhambane and camp at the coastal village of Tofo. Here we spend time at leisure at many of the beach bars, walking along the long white beaches or going on optional activities such as deep sea fishing, or quading or diving. (B,D)

Stage duration:2 days

Day 13 - Maputo, Mocambique

Leaving the tranquility of tyhe beaches we travel to the bustling capital of Mozambique, Maputo. In the afternoon we explore Maputo with its rich cultural history and tree lined avenues. This city (Maputo) has a unique European feel about it and it sports some great local restaurants. (B)

Days 14 and 15 - Kruger National Park.

We cross the border into RSA and proceed to the famous Kruger National Park with its animals, reptiles and birds to dream about. Our time is spent on game drives searching inter alia for the Big Five and perchance a "kill". We spend the evenings camping in the Park and enjoying the campfires. An optional night drive is available. (B,D)

Day 16 - Johannesburg, Gauteng.

At sunrise we enjoy a final game drive before breakfast and a relaxed drive back to Johannesburg where we arrive in the late afternoon. (B)
