Day 4: Namib- Naukluft National Park
From the canyon we continue on into the remote Namibian hinterland. We arrive at Sesriem Camp in the afternoon and have time to go for a walk in to the smaller Sesriem Canyon. This is an excellent night to sleep out under the stars, beside the fire, surrounded by the shifting dunes and desert silence.
Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Accommodation:Camp: Sesriem campsite
Sesriem – Gates closes strictly at sunset. If we run late, we have to camp in the emergency camp (not a great campsite and we will have to use the garage’s toilets). There is a shop for cool drinks, beers, and postcards, wood and sometimes ice. Shop closes at sunset.
This is a long driving day so we will leave as early as possible. We will stop at the garage in Bethanie to refuel, shop, and get ice. This is a great little shop with fresh bread and just about anything else you will need. There is also a bottle store and post office. You can get biltong from the butchery at a good price.

Malaria (passed on by the Female Anopheles mosquito) is rife in this part of Botswana. Most mosquito bites are on the feet or ankles of a person – so cover these areas well in repellent.

Stage highlights: Delta Excursion: You cannot take your full backpack in to the Delta as there is limited packing space available – take only the essentials. Don’t bother taking any soap – the Delta is a pristine environment and so you will not be allowed to use it!
Delta Day 2
We do not have a seriously early morning on this day. We will get to the next camp by lunchtime. The day is spent on the mokoros, with the afternoon relaxing at camp. You will go for an afternoon nature walk.
Nature walk: If the group is big, it will be split into two smaller groups. A guide and at least three polers will go on the walk with the group.
Delta Day 3
You will have an early morning nature walk, before breakfast. Our lunch stop will be either at bushcamp or flycamp. Afterwards we will then transfer to our base camp, where you can go for showers and relax. We have an early start the next morning.
