Sondzela House
BACKPACKERS SETTING
Sondzela Main House accommodates up to 27 people and consists of 2 dorms and 3 twin private rooms in a downstairs and loft area, a camping ground and communal facilities. Sondzela is equipped for self-catering. The house itself is fully furnished and consists of a large kitchen with fridge, hob, urn, cutlery and crockery, a comfortable reception and lounge area with a fireplace and television and 4 communal ablutions, one of which is situated outside. Bedding is provided. A swimming pool and communal campfire area can be enjoyed outdoors.The Camp Ground is located amongst the trees alongside the main house and campers can enjoy facilities of the main house. Sondzela can provide tents and bedding at a fee. A restaurant is situated at the Mlilwane Rest Camp where visitors can enjoy tasty meals. It is best to do supply shopping before arriving at Sondzela, although Mahlanya Fresh Produce Market is a few kilometers away and catching a lift into town is relatively easy.
The Hog ‘n Wart Bar where guests can relax, socialize and enjoy the company of others, watch television (DStv) or play pool and table tennis. A large campfire is a wonderful gathering point with added atmosphere for those who want to spend their evenings under the Swazi skies. A public phone is available as well as a Speedpoint for Visa and Mastercard. A facility for safekeeping is also available.
Friendly local Swazi people staff Sondzela and staff are on hand to inform guests about Swaziland, build the main campfire and keep the facilities clean – please note that guests are required to keep the kitchen area and utensils clean.
A laundry area is available for visitors to do their washing (only hand-washing basins available and no automatic washing machines) and ironing.
Travel information for backpackers in South Africa and Mozambique as well as Mozambique Visa information is available in the reception area of the main house. There is a free Baz Bus shuttle service to and from Malandela’s Restaurant which is the main meeting point in Malkerns.A timetable and ticket sales (bus only) for the Baz Bus are available at the reception area of Sondzela. Baz Bus is South Africa's only convenient hop-on-hop-off door-to-door backpacker bus service to over 150 hostels in over 40 cities.
An Internet Café is located at Malandela’s as well as curio shops along the Ezulwini Craft Route and Malkerns areas.

Extended Facilities
Sondzela Khulisa accommodates up to 25 people and consists of 2 dorms and 2 twin private rooms in a downstairs and loft area, with communal facilities. The house is fully furnished and consists of its own facilities, similar to the main house, although the main house is used as the base for activities and get-togethers as well as the main reception area.

The inclusion of anything from one to four nights in the Kingdom is essential in any itinerary and for a short getaway. MLILWANE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY (REILLY’S ROCK, SONDZELA, CENTRAL RESERVATIONS OFFICE) Situated within easy reach of the popular Ezulwini and Malkerns tourism hubs, the Sanctuary is a tranquil retreat for the weary and a scenic family paradise. Please also use these directions for Reilly’s Rock, Sondzela Backpackers and the Central Reservations Office.From Mbabane: take the MR3 Mbabane/Manzini dual carriageway towards Manzini. Take the third off-ramp, signposted Mlilwane/Lobamba/Elangeni/Ezulwini. Turn right under the highway. Pass the National Archives on the left and at the traffic circle, turn immediate left into the first road around the circle, pass the King Sobhuza II Memorial Park on the right and then turn left again onto the MR103 craft route or old road. Pass the Caltex filling station and +/- 500m further turn right at the Mlilwane sign onto a dirt road. Continue for +/-4km to the Sangweni Gate.If you decide to take the Scenic/Craft Route from Mbabane, take the first off-ramp, namely the Ezulwini/Mlilwane off-ramp. Carry on with this road through Ezulwini and Lombamba until you pass the Caltex filling station on the left. +/- 500m further, turn right at the Mlilwane sign onto a dirt road. Continue for +/-4km to the Sangweni Gate.From Manzini: take the MR3 Mbabane/Manzini highway towards Mbabane. Take the off-ramp signposted Mlilwane/Lobamba. Turn left. Follow above directions respectively.From Johannesburg / Kruger Park (via Piggs Peak): travel to Mbabane, then Manzini and follow the above directions.
