Thanks for visiting our website and please enjoy the pictures of our surroundings.

African Tale Backpackers offers cheap accommodation to international travellers as well as guided tours to the points of interest, including the Umfolozi/Hluhluwe Game Reserve and the St. Lucia Wetlands.


African Tale Backpackers has a campfire every night. We find we would rather watch the campfire than a T.V. set. A little live music, a few drinks, and we are dancing under the stars.



The Hlabisa/Dukuduku Home Defenders was originally formed in 1972. The group is one of the best in Zululand, and they compete regularly at local competitions. African Tale is privileged to hear them perform regularly, as they invite our guests into the forest for a concert.
