INTRODUCTION

Margate Backpackers
Margate Backpackers is a clean and friendly hostel with two dorms, accommodating 4 and 8 beds respectively.

One cosy double room with a double bed and mosquito net, for the one's that hate those creepy nasty little bugs that sometimes attacks you at night. (No Malaria)

Two twin rooms if you want privacy.

Lots of camping space under the avocado tree. This is also were we make pojkies (a stew cooked in an iron pot) as well as just sitting around the fireplace, bring your guitar.

The “Garage” is converted to a bar, where the first beer is always on the house. It has a pooltable, DSTV and information on other backpackers.

A veranda where you can relax with what ever you like.

For your convenience there is a herb-garden outside the self-catering kitchen cottage style. No need to buy spices.

For your safety we have “Killer Dogs” that takes care of any night-time scaries. The Killer dogs are very placid and friendly but don’t tell anyone. Everyone believes that they ARE killer dogs. He, he. So, you are very safe at Margate Backpackers.

Deep-Sea Fishing
Launch early in the morning through the waves at Shelly Beach and return in the afternoon with your catch, maybe a Shark, Kingfish or Tuna.

The boat "Sensational" will supply you with all the gear needed.

You can keep your fish.

Remember to bring a hat as well as something to drink and eat.

Shark Diving at Protea Banks
An adrenaline kick for the advanced divers!

Protea Banks is situated 5 miles / 7 km from Margate and it is one of the top shark dive spots in the world. (You go down 30-35 metres)

On a good day you will se Tiger sharks, Ragged tooth, shoals of Hammerhead, Guitar sharks and if you are ”lucky” a Great white, and much much more.

We do NOT do cage diving on the South Coast.

To dive Protea you will need an advanced diving certificate or 20 logged dives.

African Dive Adventure launches from Shelly Beach and they offer diving courses at a competitive rate.

Small Dorm
We have two dorms: -

One with 4 beds.

and one with 8 Beds.

Pioctured her is our comfortable, cosy 4 bed dorm.

Veranda
The lodge has a large revanda, where most meals are served. The open air style is excellent for those hot summer days.

Or hey, just grab a book and read or play pool.

Margate Backpackers has that great, coastal, laid back, atmosphere that one comes to expect at the coast.

Come as a guest and leave as a friend.

Kitchen
Margate Backpackers has a fully equipped self cater kitchen.

The Kitchen has all the modern facilities that you will require.

Ther is a fridge that you can use to store your food in.
